Thanksgiving - Crab snack recipe.

We had a great time with most of the family  at niece, Michelle's yesterday for Thanksgiving.  As usually we ate too much.  Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures.

I tried a new recipe- Crab Cream Cheese Snacks.  I had a couple of requests for the recipe.  I was going to post a link but I can't find it now.  Originally Charlie found it posted by a friend of a friend by Rose Kanneg, on Facebook.  I looked for it and guess what I can't find it I found some similar recipes but not the one I have printed so here it is.  With Thanks to whoever created the original.

Crab Cream Cheese Snacks
1- 8 ounce tube crescent roll dough
3 oz cream cheese softened
1/4 cup mayonaise
3/4 cup cooked crab-meat chopped (I used Louise Kemp Crab Delights)
2 green onions chopped
1/8 -1/4 cayenne pepper
salt and pepper to taste (I didn't use any)

Heat oven to 375 degrees.  Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. Unroll dough on work surface. Pinch seams to seal and roll with a rolling pin to create an even rectangle.  Cut into 6 rows by 4 rows to make 24 squares.

In a small bowl mix cream cheese, may, crab-meat, onion and red pepper salt and pepper to taste.  Divide crab mixture evenly among the squares dropping it by  that are 1/2 inch from 1 corner of each square.  Starting with same corner, fold dough over filling and tuck tightly underneath filling;  continue rolling to within 1/2 inch of opposite corner.  Roll opposite corner of dough over roll; press to seal.  Place on cookie sheet.  Brush with egg white if desired (I did not)

Bake 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.  Remove from cookie sheet.  Serve warm.

What I did on My Vacation

First we actually, Charlie scraped and painted and popcorned (?) the kitchen ceiling.  The two skylights would leak every time it rained  We finally had to take them out all together.  The ceiling was stained and started to peel so  he had to fix it.

He wanted to do something with all the apples we have so he started making cider and apple sauce.

This is what I did

I have a few others on Etsy (go to etsy.com look for betzja and can be purchased through Etsy.  I will sell most of these directly if anyone is interested.  Contact me through facebook or leave a message on this blog or email me at cr82learn@gmail.com

Johnny Verbeck or the little dutchman sausage machine.

I don’t remember how it came up, but some of us were standing around talking about something the other day and I remembered the song Johnny Verbeck
No one else had ever heard it, so I went  on an internet hunt.  I found several versions.:

This is how I remember it

There was a jolly Dutchman,
His name was Johnny Verbeck.
He made the finest sausages
And sauerkraut and speck.
He made the finest sausages
The and sauerkraut ever seen,
Then one day he invented
A sausage meat machine.

Chorus:

Oh, Mr. Johnny Verbeck
How could you be so mean.
I told you you'd be sorry for
Inventing that machine.
Now all the neighbors' cats and dogs
Will never more be seen.
They'll all be ground to sausages
In Johnny Verbecks' machine.

One day a boy came walking,
A walking in the store
He ordered up some sausages
And piled them on the floor.
The boy began to whistle,
He whistled up a tune.
And all the little sausages
They danced around the room .

Chorus:

One day the darn thing busted
The darn thing wouldn't go.
So Johnny Verbeck, he climbed inside
To see what made it so.
His wife, she had a nightmare
And walking in her sleep,
She gave the crank a heck of a yank
And Johnny Verbeck was meat.

Chorus
And so was he.

Spring Flowers?

It is still cold, but the sun looks beautiful.  The pussy willows don't seem to mind.

Someone once told me that you could take the straw off the strawberries  when the forsythia bloom.  Well it is not even close.

This is what they looked like March 24, 2012

There is still some ice on the pond but it is starting to melt.
